W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

what i recently finished reading

The Sun Down Motel was super creepy and really good. This author has become a favorite with her last two books.

I was in the mood for a romance and Kristan Higgins is one of my go-to romance authors. I still have several of her older books I haven’t read, including The Next Best Thing. Despite getting a little frustrated with the characters in the middle of the book, I loved it. One of her best romances.

Audio Books:

I loved the Class Mom books! They were so cute and funny.

My second Stephen King book in two months! It’s a super short book (which I know is not typical for him, lol) and I enjoyed it, especially because it was read by King himself.

what i’m Currently Reading

I’m listening to Dead to Her on Hoopla. This author has been hit or miss for me in the past. I like the narrator but not really loving the story, yet. Hoping for some sort of twist or something to make this worthwhile.

I have the audio book from the library of The Starless Sea and I also own a hard copy. I thought it would be good to go back and forth between the two, since it’s so long. I can tell it’s going to require some serious concentration, and I’m not sure I’m in the mood for it. I only have a few days to decide before it’ll be too late and get returned to the library. I was enjoying the story so far, but may have to revisit it on a later date.

I can’t hold off on reading the new Kristan Higgins book any longer. I was so excited to get a copy from Netgalley, and it’s exactly the type of book I’m in the mood for right now.

what i have recently added to my tbr

I’m always excited for a new Colleen Hoover book! I love this cover!

I just finished The Starless Sea on audio and I LOVED it! The audio version really enhanced the story. It’s a long one though, like you said. It has one of my favorite narrators–Bahni Turpin! I’m such a nerd that I have favorite audio narrators. Haha.

I’ve got a physical copy of The Starless Sea but the size of it has definitely been putting me off. I’d considered the audio so will be interested to hear what you think.

I’m liking the sound of The Sun Down Motel, creepy sounds like just what I need.

I’ve been seeing The Starless Sea around a lot. I’m kind of nervous to give it a chance though, because I tried to read her book The Night Circus (tried to read myself and also attempted audiobook) and just couldn’t do it. I can’t wait for Colleen Hoover’s new book and I love the cover so much too.

Great to hear you enjoyed the newest Simone St. James title.

I’ve read & loved The Starless Sea, and would say you’re totally right on it requiring concentration – one of those books that you really have to be in the mood for & commit to.

    Happy reading!

I’m definitely curious about The Sun Down Motel now! And I’m hoping to read The Starless Sea some time soon as well… Although like you I’m not sure if I’m in the mood for it right now. Have a wonderful weekend! xx

Does Sun Down Motel have supernatural elements to it? I have to be in just the right mood for those types of books. You definitely have to be able to pay attention to The Starless Sea. Some of the stories you may want to skim through all end up being important in the end.

The Sundown Motel sounds interesting, and so does the Stephen King. I listened to a short by him a while back, The Good Marriage, and I really liked it even though it creeped me out. It was very similar to a real-life crime case that was super disturbing!

I haven’t requested the new Kristan Higgins yet, but I probably will soon. We’ll see if I get a copy. I didn’t know CoHo had a new on the way. I’ll have to look it up. I love seeing that Sunny enjoys reading, too! 🙂
